We have some puzzles and games in the condo, which you are welcome to play
with. Help yourselves!
We have 2 VCRs in the condo, and there’s an extensive video library
with lots of “oldies but goodies.” The previous owners had a
penchant for war movies, but we’ve expanded to include more family-friendly
films. You may want to bring up a couple of your own, too, if you like. We
don’t have a DVD at this point; but a portable works if you have one
to plug into the TV.
A fun outing from the condo: Walk down the hill into town. It takes about
10 minutes. There’s a place for cookies and hot chocolate at the first
little strip mall on the corner of Vasquez and I-40. It’s called “Cookies
and More” and it’s on the lower level.
For a beautiful, short hike in the woods, head up Van Anderson, and then
turn right (uphill) on Vasquez. The road soon turns to dirt. Continue uphill,
but look to your left for signs for the Twin Bridges trail. It’s a
sweet little trail that will go downhill and across a couple of bridges.
We usually just go out and back, but if you continue straight through, you
should come out on Arapahoe Road. Follow it around for a mile or so, and
it will hook back up to Vasquez. Turn left (uphill) to return to Van Anderson
and the Condo.
We have a book of hiking trails in Grand County up at the condo for your
reference.
The ski resort of Winter Park has a fabulous summer set-up: Putt-putt golfing,
Colorado’s longest Alpine Slide (teens love it!!), bungee trampolines,
a human maze, and a climbing wall. Lots of fun for the whole family. Bring
your camera!!
Be sure to bring your swimsuits – the pool and hot-tub are fun for
the everyone. The pool is small, but it is heated (it’s tepid, not
hot). The hot tub is indeed hot.
There’s a little organic grocery store in town with a juice bar.
It’s near Jalisco’s Mexican Restaurant, which is very family-friendly,
authentic Mexican food.
Devil’s Thumb Ranch in Tabernash is worth a visit. Call them about
horseback riding and other summer activities. It’s a beautiful setting,
and they have a fabulous, 4 star restaurant in case you want a fancy night
out in the Colorado mountains.
The Harry Potter playground (our name for it!) is in Granby. Drive north
on I-40 to Granby, then as you’re on the far north side of town, turn
right up one of the hills, and follow the signs to the Visitor’s Center.
You’ll be able to see the park from there. It overlooks the town, and
the mountains, and it’s amazing
